Kitchen Cabinet Refinishing in Burnaby: Projects Completed in 2023

The City of Burnaby is named after Robert Burnaby who was a Freemason, explorer, and legislator.  With a population of 232,755 we are thrilled to announce that we completed 8 kitchen cabinet painting jobs in Burnaby in 2023.

  • lacquering high gloss in Suncrest
  • eggshell / velvet two-tone cabinet job in North Burnaby East
  • epoxy satin cabinets done in the South Slope
  • cabinet staining and clear coats of urethane in East Burnaby

When we’re refinishing cabinets in Burnaby we face the same challenges we do when we re-paint kitchen cabinets in other parts of the GVRD.

One such challenge is to go over the cost to paint kitchen cabinets and other times we simply help our customers with one of THEIR own challenges which is when they should get their cabinets painted when they are doing other kitchen renovations as well. Our response has always been, continues to be and will always be:   “Let us get in there asap to uninstall your cabinets and get them to out shop.  We will need them for 3 full weeks so that’s a great time to get those other things done like installing new countertops, backsplash, carpentry etc.    You really want your cabinet painters to be the last one’s in there.

The issue quite frankly is that we at Cabinet Painting Burnaby are the least likely to cause any damage to the adjacent surfaces we work up against.  You know the old ‘bull in a China shop’ saying?  Well that does NOT describe us in any way shape or form but is sure DOES describe all too many other trades.  Ohh!

Kitchen in Metrotown

“Every woman loves a white kitchen Rick” were the exact words this particular lady customer of ours from Metrotown in Burnaby said to me when I first met her.

“What about your husband”? I asked.  “Happy wife, happy life” she said with a wry smile while winking at “hubby”.

Well “giddy up” I said encouragingly while giving daddy-o an approving smile for having fallen in line.

Cabinets at Deer Lake

High gloss black cabinets?   It doesn’t happen often.  About 1 cabinet painting project out of every 100 but when it does it sure does look stylin.  This cabinet refinishing company in Burnaby LOVE’S when we get the chance to use this colour and sheen.

For this kitchen in Deer Lake we used Black Panther. For a colour named black it is certainly a deep hue however not nearly as rich as many of the other truer blacks. Black Panther shares the same softness and warmth of Wrought Iron but is a deeper and darker colour.

Chantilly @ Highgate

When we’re cabinet painting in Burnaby we have so many Benjamin Moore whites to choose from.  You won’t be surprised that Benjamin Moore’s White Dove, Decorator’s White, Cloud White & Chantilly Lace are the most popular white paint colors in their collections.

They are all trending in 2023 but are also timeless colourless white paint colours.  This particular kitchen we did is Chantilly Lace.  OC-65 is as delicate as the lace it was named after.

Satisfied in Suncrest

Rick: “Ideally the off white you pick matches the grays you have in your countertop” I said confidently since this was my 2000+ rodeo.

Customer: “CC-40 Cloud White from Benjamin Moore isn’t going to be suitable this time around, will it?”

Rick:  “Not a chance” I said.   “CC-40 is super for earth tones like brown and beige’s but you want Oxford to pick up the grays” I went on.

Customer: “Is Oxford White a gray?” my customer asked.

Rick: “Not a chance.  It’s an off white that moves toward gray but will never arrive” I said.

Customer: “Got it.  Let’s go with Oxford White then”.

Rick: “Giddy up”

Customer:  “Wait a second, hold on, I want to give this some more thought”

Rick:  “Be brave.  Stick with what we know.”

Customer:  “What do we know?”

Rick:  “Picking up surrounding colours for continuity is a good thing”

Fabulous @ Forest Glen

Customer:  “I’m torn between Oxford White, Chantilly Lace or Simply White Rick.  Can you help me out here?”

Rick:  “Well, the Oxford has a gray undertone and wouldn’t be suitable in your kitchen so that leaves Chantilly and Simply”.

Rick:  “Do you want a white, white or a white with a slight yellow undertone?” I asked.

Customer:  “Not yellow.  Yellow scares me.”

Rick:  “Umm, you have yellow all over your island”.

Customer:  “Ohh, right.   Will my cabinets look yellow though if you use Simply?”

Rick:  Although Simply White is definitely warmer than other white paints and has a yellow undertone, it will not look yellow on your cabinets. You may notice a *hint* of yellow at times, depending on the lighting in your room.

Customer:  “I’m OK with a hint.  Simply White it is then”.

Rick:  “Giddy up”

Beauty @ Brentwood Park

Regardless of ever-changing paint trends, there is one hue that’s withstood the test of time:

It was the #1 colour specified by more designers in North America for 40+ years than any other Benjamin Moore off white.

Up until just 5 years ago it was the #1 off white I myself had used over the last 37 years that I have been painting.

In fact, it’s many a magazine’s most mentioned paint color. This versatile warm-white hue has a soft undertone that’s easy on the eyes and complements any decorating style or color palette.

Ladies and gentlemen, please put your hands together and give a *warm welcome to CC-40 Cloud White!

When it comes to white you’d be challenged to find one that’s more talked about than Benjamin Moore Cloud White.

Cloud White is a warm earth tone. It’s one of the most popular whites because it sits comfortably in an excellent place between ones that are a bit too warm with more yellow in them and whites that are more crisp and clean.

Magnificent in Maywood!

Maywood on the Park is a new condo development at 6463 Silver Avenue, Burnaby.  Maywood on the Park has a total of 298 units. Sizes range from 393 to 1286 square feet.

This black and white kitchen is a classic that is never ‘out of style’, making it a perfect choice for those who are not too keen on constantly changing the look of their kitchen too often

What Maywood Again?

Honestly, I don’t know who the architect was for Maywood on Silver Avenue but I love that guy…or girl.  The smallish kitchen cabinet jobs we did in this tower is proof you don’t need a huge kitchen to hit it out of the park.

High gloss black and white cabinets?  I said earlier that it doesn’t happen “too often” but what do I know?  Gotta love these hi-rises.

Sexy in Sullivan Heights

Black and white cabinets are timeless.  Sure, it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but the ‘look’ has been around forever and will going nowhere any time soon.

It’s as classic and high-contrast a combination of two colours as you will ever see.

You don’t have to commit to doing the entire kitchen black and white but it sure does help when you do. ;>

The Colour Red

Red is the colour of energy, passion and action.

So, how often have we painting kitchen cabinets red?  Answer: 3 times in over 1000 kitchen cabinet painting projects.

It doesn’t happen often but when it does….LOOK OUT!   See how emotional I just got?   THAT’S the red ‘speaking’.  Why use red in a kitchen you ask?

The colour red is a warm and positive colour associated with our most physical needs and our will to survive. It exudes a strong and powerful masculine energy.

Red is energizing. It excites the emotions and motivates us to take action.

It signifies a pioneering spirit and leadership qualities, promoting ambition and determination. #blah #blah.  WARNING: Consult a psychologist prior to using.

Why We Love Burnaby

Burnaby is a lot more than just a trip to Metropolis in Metrotown.   As an undergrad of York U, U of T and Ottawa Law I love to sneak a peak at SFU whenever we’re in the area.  But if you prefer parks you can visit:
